PICKAWAY – Pickaway County Board has put their Health Commissioner on Administrative leave pending investigation.

Word of this possible action came early last month but during regular scheduled meetings the board went into executive session for hours. During the next weeks session it was cancelled due to the board improperly publicly notifying the public. During last weeks board meeting on February 4, 2020 we are being told Nassandra Wright was put on leave pending internal investigation.

I reached out to contact Pickaway Health several times for the minutes of the meeting with no comment given, I also spoke with Sam Neil Emergency Preparedness Coordinator who said he also could not give any comment to the question of why Wright was put on leave.

When I emailed Mrs. Wright I received this in response, “Commissioner Wright is out of the office indefinitely and not checking e-mails. If you have an issue that needs attention by Pickaway County Public Health, please contact the Director of Nursing, Susan Foster, at [email protected] or 740-477-9667, ext 224. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you.”

A phone call to Mrs. Wright was answered on Monday February 10, 2020 Wright said that she could not comment on the decision based on suggestion from her lawyers.

Wright was hired only early spring of 2019, and the Pickaway Heath board is working to get state accreditation which is required by the state of Ohio.

We will follow up with more questions to the Health Board in hopes they will be more transparent with this issue. The City of Circleville pays 40% of the cost of the Health Board.

Meeting where Wright addressed City Council on costs.
