Breaking News: Emergency Crews In Hocking Attempting to Extricate Man Fallen in Caves

Hocking County – Emergency Crews are attempting to save a man who has fallen into the ravine of Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve. The accident was reported around 3:30 pm this afternoon and safety forces as of this report have not been able to extricate him. A special repell team is in route at this time. Earlier a medflight helicopter was called, but due to high winds and questionable weather contains they declined.

Conkles Hollow is considered by repellers as the deepest in Ohio with some of the gorge being over 200 feet tall.

update: there are two people who have fallen one in Conkles Hollow and one at Cedar Falls.  The incident at Cedar Falls is the lifeflight accident and the Conkles Hollow a man fell about 15 feet and is uninjured and need help getting out.

  1. Do you mean “rappelling” as in using ropes to rescue these folks? “Repel” is not correct unless you’re scaring them away.
