Pickaway County Sheriff also reported that 911 systems are down recently, anyone needing to contact Sheriff please call 740-601-7425 or 740-601-7585

Statement from Pickaway County Commissioner Brian Stewart, “This is all a Frontier issue. Phones from them are down across the whole county. State law says we have to use a wired landline provider for 911 – not VOIP – and Frontier is the only company that serves our area. No one wants to be done with Frontier more than the Commissioners and the Sheriff, but our options are limited.

Staff at the county is working daily to find alternatives to Frontier, and I’ve personally been on the phone with Frontier leaders making clear this is unacceptable and that we’re pursuing state action to sanction them. It looks like we may have a VOIP alternative that we can use for backup, but not as the primary system. As State Representative I’m going to look at authorizing VOIP as the primary 911 system for counties where service issues are this prevalent.”
