Breaking: Medflight Responding to Accident at Sofidel in Pickaway County

Sofidel built a tissue paper manufacturing plant on 280 acres in Circleville, Ohio. The site is one mile long, and the building contains more than 1.4 million square feet. The integrated plant incorporates a paper mill, a converting plant for producing the finished product and a state-of-the-art warehousing facility. Once at full capacity, the facility will employ 700 people.

PICKAWAY – Emergency responders are at Sofidel located off US-23 in Southern Pickaway county on a call of a man with his hand caught in the paper machine.

According to dispatch around 4:30 pm on December 27, 2020 a call came into Pickaway Sheriffs office of a man who got his hand caught in a machine within the Sofidel plant. When emergency responders got on scene they called for a medical helicopter to fly the man to Columbus Hospital for Critical care.

Medflight said that they were about 22 minutes out for a response, it was unsure if the helicopter will land at the plant or at Berger Hospital.
