CHILLICOTHE (March 26, 2019) – Adena Health System Chief Operating Officer Katherine Edrington has announced that Karen Jenkins has been named the new Vice President of Adena Regional Medical Center.

“Karen is a highly respected leader, and I am happy she is joining our leadership team at such a critical time for the hospital,” said Edrington. “Anyone who has worked with Karen knows her as an effective communicator and collaborator. She also takes pride in improving the delivery of our care and patient satisfaction, making her the right choice for this position.”

Jenkins began her career at Adena in 2002 as a Speech Pathologist. Through the years, her career has advanced into larger leadership roles most recently as Director of Rehabilitation and Radiology Services. In 2018, she moved into the role of Interim Vice President for the hospital.

“I am thrilled to take on this expanded responsibility and further advance the hospital,” said Jenkins. “As Ross County’s largest employer, we have a responsibility to our community to provide the best in close-to-home care, making Adena the first choice in health care for people in our region.”

In her role as VP, Jenkins oversees the daily operations of the 225-bed hospital, which is also home to advanced surgical suites, specialized inpatient units, cardiac care, orthopedic care, Women and Children’s Center, along with many physician practices and specialty areas. Situated on the facility’s campus is a new, state-of-the-art emergency department; primary care and specialty services located in the Medical Office Building and Health Pavilion; and the Adena Cancer Center.

Jenkins enters the position at a time when the hospital is experiencing significant growth. A $36 million Emergency Department renovation and expansion project nears completion by year’s end. Adena Regional Medical Center was also named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for 2019 by Healthgrades™. The hospital has also been given a 4-star rating for quality by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Center for Medicare and Medicaid.

A native of Loudonville, OH, Jenkins received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders from Marshall University. She went on to earn a Master of Arts Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The Ohio State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Morehead State University.
