75 Year Old Historical Business Bought Out by Big Business in Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE – Monday will be the end of era for a local pharmacy based business in Chillicothe. The known landmark, Andersons Drug Store holds a lot of memories in the minds of the local people. Walgreens INC. will purchase the flies and inventory of the store and leave the store empty.

According to Anderson’s Drug store all prescriptions will be transferred the the local Walgreens stores on Bridge Street and Western Ave. after Monday you can call and transfer the prescription to the Pharmacy you choose.

160 East Main is actually the third location for this business founded by H.M. Anderson. The first location was located at 64 North Paint Street in 1944, it then moved into 132 East Main Street, then in 1968 Andersons moved into the former Goodyear tire store, the current location.

Andersons was more than just a Drug store but also carried seasonal items, cosmetics, and toys.

Another local pharmacy still operates in Chillicothe Allen’s located at 215 Old Eastern Ave in Chillicothe.
